Synonyms of 'Last' and their differences

Q:What is the difference between last and remain ?
A:They can often be used interchangeably, but in my mind the primary difference is this:
'last' makes me think of position or a step in a sequence.
'remainder' or 'remaining' or 'what remains' me think about resource consumption.
He is the last person in line.
A:‘Last’ is defined as ‘coming after all others, in time or number’. Can also be used to signify that there is only one of something.
Examples: ‘she ate the last slice of pizza’
‘He was the last one in the line’
‘She read the last page of the book’
‘End’ is a final part in something such as time, activity, place, or story.
Examples: ‘he was at the end of the line’.
‘She was at the end of the book’.
Q:What is the difference between at last and finally ?
A:They mean the same thing but finally is typically used in a positive situation. At last can be used in a positive or negative situation.
A:There isn't a big difference. Last is more of a description, whereas final has an emphasis on the fact that it's last. For example, if I say 'the last day of school' I am really just telling you about a day, and I'm calling it the last day of school so you know which day I'm talking about. However, if I say 'the final day of school', the focus of this phrase is that this day IS the last day. Also, final is most definitive; the last day of school could normally be the day before any vacation or holiday, but the final day of school usually would mean the last day of school ever (you will never go back to school). I hope this makes sense.
Q:What is the difference between last and latest ?
A:Last often refers to the final item in a list or ranking.
Latest refers the most recent item.
'I ate the last piece of candy.'
'Their latest album was released in 2015.'
